Parent Orientation Information
I. Prayer: Lord, We thank you for the gift of families. We ask that you be with us as we begin the Catechetical Year 2007 - 2008. Help us as catechist and families to work together to enlighten the children/youth you have entrusted to our care. AMEN.

5. Expectation of Catechist: We expect our catechist to be good role models of Christian disciples. We also expect them to pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit when preparing for classes and are loving teachers of the children and teens entrusted to them. They attend meetings, catechist training and retreats. None of our CCD staff are being paid; it is strictly ministry for the church.
6. Expectation of Parents: To attend mass with their children as a family on CCD Sunday at 9:00 a.m. every 3rd Sunday of the month. To attend the parent meetings for those students enrolled in the Sacramental Programs. To assist children/youth with their prayers. Most importantly, all parents must attend at least two catechesis workshops a year which will be scheduled throughout the year. The upcoming catechetical conference will count toward two parent workshops. We will send home the schedule with the children/youth. Last year, we had a good turnout of parents . . . we will continue to send list home.
7. Family Commitment Prayer: We give thanks to you, Loving God and Compassionate Father, for the never-ending blessings that flow upon our family from your grace. During this coming year, help us to grow closer to you as we encounter your Son, Jesus Christ, through the sacraments he gave us and through the life of your Holy Church. Guided by your Holy Spirit, help us to commit our lives to living the Gospel so that everyone we meet may encounter the living Christ through us. We commit ourselves to participate actively in the life of our parish community and to pray for all those who catechize in your name. With all our hearts we offer this to you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
